Weed Share
Weed is a music format that takes a very innovative and common sense approach to file-sharing & music distribution that serves both the artist and consumer at the same time.
Music files are encoded using Weed they can be traded, listened to 3 times until prompted for payment. Those who trade get paid so the incent is there for the distro on the user end and the artist recieves 50% of the said cost. Well worth checking out. A great technology and quite a few storefronts for the sale and distro.

Star Polish
A great avenue for indie promotion & distribution. You can include your sales links as well. The Star Polish site also offers a back library off articles for "How-to's" and "On the Road" advice and tips. Great all around.

Download / Music
CNET's music arm of Download.com

MP3. Washington Post
This site is set up as a local outlet for area musicians to upload and promote their music. It is the Washington Post, so it is layed out very well and they obviously care alot about their local scene. Needless to say if you are a DC local, you should check it out... if you are not already registered with them.

iMeem
The latest entry in the social networking landscape. Musician friendly and has all the right tenents - howeverm the interface is clunky, bogged down and not very user-friendly, above all tech support response is slow to nonexistent when contacting about problems.

Rap Station
Chuck D's outing... a great promotional vehicle for indie hip-hop, dj and urban musicians doing the mp3 thing. Hey man, its Chuck D, so you already know. Free & Premium service. See also: BringTheNoise.

VitaminiC
Vitaminic offers a plethora of services to market and distribute your music: from free music hosting, downloadable music sales, CD sales, mailing lists, as well as the ability to offer your music on other country-centric sites including the UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Spain. One of the best out there. Highly Recommended. Free and Premium memberships.

Bebo
One of the fastest growing social networks. While it does offer much to the musican, we find the interface and navigation a bit difficult to figure out.

MP3.com
Yes, you read right. MP3.com is being retooled as an indie music site and, as of this writing, is currently in beta

TagWorld
Tagworld is one of the latest to enter into the world of social networking sites. Features many of the same bells & whistles that MySpace does ... without the massive user base (although, at the time of this review, it is quickly approacing 1 miilion members) - It is still in beta at this point, so expect delays and lag time. Could be a winner once they work out the kinks.

Friendster
The social networking site that started it all. It has had a bit of a slowdown and has fallen behind... but, sites have a strange way of catching a second wind and Friendster still have a decent user base. Users = potential listeners.

Facebook
Another contenter in the social networking bid to the top. Facebook sports a large user base.
